Supplies for hazardous areas

Wago’s new 750-606 supply module has been awarded IEC Ex-i certification. The module delivers 1 A of current allowing it to supply more Ex-i I/O modules than the standard 750-625 module. It also separates the intrinsically safe from the non-intrinsically safe section of the Wago-I/O system and monitors power supply to the downstream Ex-i segment. The output circuit is equipped with an electronic fuse that automatically re-activates the output voltage 10s after the fault has been rectified when the fuse has tripped. The new Ex-i feed-in has a diagnosis function and signals, for example, when there is no input voltage present, or when the fuse has tripped.
Also certified for hazardous areas is the two-channel 750-487/003-000 analogue input module. This module registers temperature levels from zones 0 and 1 directly in the Wago I/O system that is installed in zone 2, or in a non-hazardous area. The Ex-i I/O module can accommodate up to two thermocouples (Model B, E, J, K, L, N, R, S, T, U) or voltage sensors (±30, ±60, ±120 mV) and performs linearisation over the entire temperature range.
The operating mode is parameterised using the Wago software. Cold junction compensation is utilised for the clamping unit offset voltage over the 0 to 55°C operating range. Status indicators signal operational readiness and violation of range limits. Field and system levels are electrically isolated. The 24 V supply is derived from the module’s power jumper contacts.
