Banner R-Gage QT50R sensor resists wind, rain and extreme temperatures to reliably detect moving and stationary objects.
Banner Engineering’s R-Gage QT50R, is an advanced radar-based sensor for close and long-range presence detection in a broad range of weather conditions. The sensor features frequency modulated technology to accurately monitor or detect objects while resisting rain, wind, humidity and extreme temperatures.
The QT50R uses frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW) radar to detect moving or stationary cars, trains, trucks and cargo. The sensor detects target objects up to 15 m away and ignores anything beyond the set-point. The IP67-rated sensor operates at 24 GHz in the industrial, scientific and medical (ISM) telecommunication band. FMCW true-presence radar paired with exceptional environmental resistance allows the sensor to operate in heavy precipitation and temperatures ranging from -40 to 65°C. The QT50R is easy to configure and features bright indicator LEDs for simple status monitoring. The one-piece unit is encapsulated in a robust housing featuring a 30 mm threaded mounting base for versatile installation options.
Applications
The QT50R is ideal for outdoor and challenging environments, making it well suited for a wide variety of uses in locomotive, traffic control and many additional applications, including:
* Train and tram detection and location in tunnels.
* Cargo positioning and detection on a truck bed.
* Truck detection at a loading dock.
* Access control to parking ramps and garage doors.
* Car detection in drive-throughs.
* Position sensing of cranes.
* Measuring and profiling in tollbooths.
* Overheight detection for tunnels and bridges.
For anti-collision applications in overhead cranes a special ‘crane’ version offers two outputs, operating at different distances, to facilitate slow down and stop functions.
