Comtest Technologies, accredited southern African partner to Fluke, has released a new, entry-point multiproduct calibrator, the Fluke 5500E. Aimed at calibration laboratories, small in-house calibration and repair workshops and meter manufacturers who require production and test calibration capabilities, the Fluke 5500E has the basic performance and functions needed for electronic test instrument calibration such as:
* Calibrate digital multimeters and clamp meters to comply with ISO 9000 or other quality standards.
* Bench multimeters (up to 4,5 digits).
* Panel meters.
* Electronic thermometers.
* Chart recorders.
* Oscilloscope recorders.
* XY recorders.
* Dataloggers.
The 5500E’s functions
The 5500 has a wide range of outputs available from a single calibration source. These include DC and AC voltages up to 1020 V, DC and AC currents up to 550 A (using the current coil accessory) and variable resistances up to 330 M. The 5500E also provides continuously variable capacitance values up to 1,1 mF. For temperature calibration applications, thermocouples and RTDs are simulated and thermocouple signals can be measured. It also generates digitally synthesised extended bandwidth sine, truncated sine, triangle and square waveforms.
