ifm’s new O5 series colour sensor can verify, sort and error-proof the presence of objects by colour using reliable RGB technology to provide high-resolution detection of colour in fast moving applications. The sensor emits pulses of red, green, and blue light from its transmitter and the receiver evaluates the pulsed light reflected from the target to determine the colour for identification. The O5C500 sensor is predestined for the paper and print industries and for packaging technology.

A teach method ensures quick setup using the five selectable tolerance steps to determine even the slightest differences in colour shades. A high switching frequency of 2 kHz provides accurate colour detection in high-speed applications. An auto-detect output automatically sets a single switching output to PNP or NPN operation.

The sensor is quickly mounted using one of ifm’s mounting brackets and the connector rotates 270° for alignment in multiple directions.
