Finding the right level measurement probe for the product is not always a simple task. Conditions that need to be overcome could include conductive material, eg watery materials or acids, a possible build-up on the probe, or a change of moisture content in the product.

The capacitive and admittance probes from Vega Instruments are designed to cope with a range of products from liquid foodstuffs to bitumen, and a range of conditions. The probes can operate in temperatures from -50 to +400°C and in a pressure range of up to 630 kPa. The fully insulated electrodes are also highly resistant to chemical corrosion and to product build-up. In turn, the insulation materials used protect the product from contamination. Apart from continuous level measurement, the Vegacap range can also form part of the overflow protection.

The probes are either calibration-free or adjustable and may be connected to a signal conditioning instrument in a control cabinet or directly to a process control system. With Vegacap compact level switch, the right outputs and the calibration unit are already integrated in the sensor housing. Whether for a contact-free switch, relay or transistor output, the electronics will operate with any AC or DC supply voltage without the need to adjust. Reliable switching is always guaranteed as long as the correct electrode is selected.
