The newest member of the Scatec sensor family was developed to count newspapers on conveyor belts precisely and reliably. Its unique feature is the ability to recognise whether none, one, two or more papers are being transported. It makes sure that there is no paper missing in the conveyor clamp, therefore avoiding deficiencies, and also that there are never more than the intended numbers of copies, as too many papers can cause a machine breakdown. An additional connector has been added to the compact housing of the new copy counter, allowing a photoelectric or inductive sensor to be connected to synchronise it with the machine operating cycle.
Object speeds of up to 5 m/s and copy thickness up to 0,25 mm can be sensed and the 120 mm range facilitates installation. Using the ScaDiag software the sensor can be programmed quickly and reliably using saved empirical values, which makes commissioning the sensor easy. Measuring sequences can also be recorded and saved for error diagnosis and process optimisation using the software.
