The new EX I/O modules for the Inline automation system from Phoenix Contact are a compact and multifunctional supplement to the Inline Remote I/O system. They are ideally suited to connect digital and analogue sensors or actuators from zones 1 and 0 with intrinsic safety EX-i protection.
In compliance with the current directives, the modules are suitable for use in ATEX zone 2 as well as IEC Ex. Users now have a higher degree of flexibility when planning as well as using the I/Os, as each channel can be used as either input or output.
For the first time, the temperature sensing module allows all common RTD and TC sensors to be flexibly connected. Further, the Inline system offers a broad range of widely used fieldbus couplings. These permit intrinsically safe signals from hazardous zones to be directly connected – for example to a Profibus, Modbus/TCP, Profinet or Ethernet/IP automation network. When used in combination with a high performance PSU, up to 10 modules can be supplied.
