A student competition to showcase mechatronic innovation with SEW-Eurodrive and Festo products has just launched its first website – www.pneudrive.co.za.
“We have seen amazing designs and really creative ideas through the run of this competition. The website came about as an idea to showcase the entries and in doing so give exposure to the students and universities involved,” commented Rene Rose, marketing manager for SEW-Eurodrive and member of the PneuDrive Team which organises the competition.
The website contains all the information about the 2009 competition including a summary of each submission received. Every entrant is thereby guaranteed free web coverage which will in turn result in traffic to the university’s website and exposure for the participating students as future employees.
“We feel that the new website concept is an excellent way of interacting with participating universities and students and will also give the competition wider recognition and status. It provides a platform where all the information is kept in a central place and any questions about the competition could be answered here,” says Rene.
This year’s competition was won by the team from Stellenbosch University who designed a glass handling gantry robot. The 2010 competition will be launching in November, and information will be made available on the website.
