Easily adjustable output voltage

November 2009 Electrical Power & Protection

150/300 W enclosed type power supplies with programmable output voltage.

After launching the SPV-1500 (1500 W) series single output enclosed type power supply with programmable output voltage function, Mean Well decided to extend its product coverage to the lower wattage of 150 and 300 W – the SPV-150 and SPV-300 series. By adding a 1-5,5 VDC external control signal, the output voltage of both series can be trimmed from 20 to 110% of rated value, which gives greatly increased flexibility to end system users who require equipment that switches between different output voltages.

SPV-150 and SPV-300 are of a high frequency design and possess efficiency up to 83% (SPV-150) and 86,5% (SPV-300) respectively. SPV-150 series can be cooled using only free air convection up to 40°C under full load condition while SPV-300 series are cooled by built-in long life DC fan with On/Off control for operation in up to 50°C ambient. With full range input from 88 to 264 VAC, these power units are equipped with built-in active (PFC) and also comply with harmonic current content requirements as per EN61000-3-2.

Besides standard functions of remote On/Off control, protection for short circuit, over-voltage, overload (constant current type), and over-temperature, SPV-150/ 300 series also comply with certificates per UL, CUL, TUV, CB and CE.

Applications include LCD panel burn-in systems, IC testing equipment, factory automation or any other applications that often require an adjustment in output voltage.
