Congratulations to Bjorn Pentikainen of Pinelands Campus, College of Cape Town. The 28-year-old student from Bothasig was awarded an Omron CP1L training kit for achieving top results and was pronounced the overall winner of the Omron Award for the Best National Certificate Vocational, Electrical Infrastructure Construction, Level 3 Student in South Africa for the year 2008. Bjorn is completing his final year of the NCV programme and plans to qualify as an electrical engineer.

Although Bjorn said that he was overwhelmed by the achievement, the award came as no surprise to his lecturers. At the presentation ceremony Bjorn thanked his lecturers for their support and guidance in a brief speech. Later when asked what message he would give to fellow students, the modest student replied, “Just keep your head above the water all the time.”
