Earthing and lightning protection seminars
October 2009
News
Lightning activity is a major threat to industrial and commercial installations and operations, and to human safety. Effective application of sound engineering techniques can however reduce and manage these risks.
“The application of effective lightning protection and earthing solutions for infrastructure and industry is therefore of critical importance,” notes Ian McKechnie, MD of Innopro, a specialist consultant and solution provider in earthing and lightning protection.
With this in mind, Innopro in association with the School of Electrical and Information Engineering at Wits University, are presenting their popular one-day industry seminars on ‘Best Practices in Lightning Protection and Earthing of Structures and Systems’ at various venues in November 2009.
The seminars will be presented by Ian Jandrell and Ian McKechnie, both directors of Innopro. Ian Jandrell is head of the School of Electrical and Information Engineering and Ian McKechnie is an honorary research fellow at the school.
These seminars are accredited for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) by Wits University, and attendees will earn one credit in the compulsory Category 1.
Seminars will be held in Centurion on 9 November and in Durban on 13 November 2009.
