Endress+Hauser completes brewery project in Malawi.
Endress+Hauser recently completed a project for Chibuku Products, part of SAB Miller, in Malawi. The project involved upgrading the brewery’s tank monitoring system on two sites.
The client initially wanted to replace its paper-based recorders with newer models. However, after assessing the requirements and the brewery, Endress+Hauser suggested a more modern, scalable control solution using Profibus technology.
Temperature monitoring in the brewery industry is important to ensure product quality and reduce wastage. Twenty-four tanks, 12 tanks on each site, were fitted with Endress+Hauser iTemp TMT 184 temperature devices. The devices are connected to a small control and monitoring system and programmable logic controller (PLC) to read the generated data.
The iTemp TMT 184 temperature head transmitters supply digital communication using Profibus-PA, offer high accuracy, are easy to operate and are Ex-certified. Two level instruments, one per site, were also supplied – Micropilot M FMR245 smart transmitters ideal for continuous and non-contact level measurement.
Endress+Hauser contracted its system integrator, Process Dynamics, to assist with the building of the panels and the supply of software and PLCs. The company used its Zimbabwe representative, Adderley, to assist with the installation and training,
