DSRT strain links from Baumer are easily screwed onto the surfaces of machines to detect linear strains: the systems calibration allows any extensions to be subsequently converted into force.
Strain links provide a good alternative to strain gauges which are glued directly onto the machine, or to load cells that have to be integrated, a task that can be complicated and cost-intensive. Another advantage is the ease with which they are removed for servicing and maintenance.
The sensor is reliable when subjected to small, superimposed strains, since the special geometry of the measuring element is designed for high resolution. Additionally, the design allows decoupling of bends and torsions from the linear extension without influencing the measurement results. The integration of a signal amplifier has resulted in a sensor that is very compact and which can be reset at any time using the taring function.
Strain links are used for force measurements and overload cut-offs in applications on presses and die-cutters, machine tools and heavy vehicle construction.
