MEAN WELL has introduced the new intelligent PB-600 series (600 W) AC/DC battery charger for lead-acid and other battery charging applications. Featuring user selectable 2/8-stage charging characteristics, this intelligent microprocessor controlled charger can quickly and efficiently recharge depleted batteries, or use a more complete charging curve to store higher energy in the battery banks. The charging curve of the PB-600 can also be adapted to suit the charging characteristics of the latest rechargeable lithium-ion battery types.
To effectively extend the lifetime of batteries and reduce the maintenance efforts, the unit possesses a built-in temperature compensation circuit. Users connect the NTC sensor to the body of the batteries; the output voltage of the charger is adjusted accordingly based on temperature. Featuring built-in active power factor correction (PFC), the charger complies with harmonic requirements per EN61000-3-2, required in many countries around the world.
Other standard features include: IEC320-C14 – 3 pole AC inlet; power ON/OFF switch with light indicator; remote ON/OFF control; fan ON/OFF control and reverse polarity, short circuit, over-voltage, and over-temperature protection.
Typical applications are found in electrical vehicles, solar powered systems, security, UPS and many others that may use rechargeable batteries as the primary or backup power source.
