Together with a serial wireless module (RAD-ISM-2400-DATA-BD-BUS), Phoenix Contact is now offering a Profibus gateway (RAD-ISM-TW-PB-Gateway) for integrating wireless I/O field stations directly into Profibus networks.
Using a GSD file, this Profibus gateway can be quickly, easily, and securely added to existing Profibus networks as a Profibus DP slave. Since the Profibus station address is configured using easily readable internal DIP switches, no external aids are required for configuration purposes.
As the Modbus master, the gateway automatically manages periodic data exchange between peripheral I/O stations and makes them available on the Profibus side. Here, the maximum Profibus speed of up to 12 MBit/s can be exploited.
Up to 10 wireless modules (RAD-ISM-2400-DATA-BD-BUS) with analogue/digital expansion modules can be operated on a gateway. The current status of the wireless Profibus network can be queried on any of these modules. Using the RAD-Line system, I/O signals can typically be captured across distances up to two kilometres over obstruction free terrain.
