ifm electronic has introduced the new OG Series photoelectric sensors able to withstand wash-down applications. Housed in an 18 mm diameter 316 stainless steel housing they have been designed for applications in the food and beverage industry.
The OG’s zero-leak design prevents ingress during high pressure and steam cleaning. The Ecolab-certified sensors are chemically compatible with industrial caustic and acid solutions and also resistant to the chemicals found in wash-down environments.
The sensors are fitted with a plastic lens rather than a traditional glass one to eliminate the possibility of the glass splintering during food or beverage processing, and feature a visible red light source that simplifies installation. For application versatility, ifm offers high-grade stainless steel accessories for quick mounting.
The units are available in a variety of models including diffuse reflective with background suppression, retro-reflective, and through-beam pairs. Each model offers light-on or dark-on output options. Sensing ranges vary from 100 mm to 20 m.
