Rogowski current measurement

Lancashire-based ProSys, represented locally by Denver Technical Products, has produced the next generation of high performance flexible current probes based on Rogowski technology.

The illustration shows the green measuring head, which is available in various lengths. The standard length being 610 mm, which will fit a circular conductor up to about 195 mm in diameter. Other lengths available to order include 381, 915 and 1220 mm. The complete probe consists of measuring head, (Rogowski coil) connecting cable between head and integrator, integrator and output cable, which is terminated with a safety BNC male connector. Standard units have three current ranges, ie, 30/300/3000 A. Other calibrations can be provided for 60/600/6000 A; in each case a 3 V output is provided.

Probes of this type have a wide bandwidth – 10 Hz to 10 kHz – with an accuracy of ±1%. This latest generation has extended battery life of 2000 hours from two AA size alkaline cells.
