Flotron on the move

July 2009 News

Stellenbosch-based Flotron Technology specialises in the development, manufacture, installation and support of a range of flow and level measurement products as well as the MyCity web-based monitoring system.

MD Jacobus Vosloo says, “MyCity has been received and accepted by the industry as the bench-mark for the publishing of realtime information of cities, towns, districts or utilities. The system makes use of GPRS and other services offered by the various GSM network operators and information can be transmitted to the platform by third party scada systems supporting the protocol or a MyCity outstation.

Clive Maasch, who has been in the traditional telemetry market since 1993, says, “I am extremely excited to be part of a dynamic team and to be associated with a cutting edge product such as MyCity. Traditional radio-based telemetry systems have needed to be adapted to employ GSM technology as a communications option, The MyCity product was purpose designed from the ground up as a GSM, web-based product and really performs well in this emerging market.”

Vosloo says that in the future Flotron engineers will continue to add functionality to the MyCity product as well as expand its capabilities to suit the market demand. Exciting new advances are imminent. “With Clive’s experience and marketing skills, coupled with our strong technical team and the MyCity product, we are well poised to continue to grow our business going forward.”
