New PC power supply with enhanced -12 V d.c. output

Advantech has introduced a -12 V d.c. high-current PC power supply specifically for systems integrators who are using their IPC-610 industrial PC chassis for computer telephony applications.

The IPC-610's standard power supply generates -12 V at 0,3 A which is insufficient to drive the large number of fax, modem and voice processing cards that make up a computer telephony application. Advantech now offers two high-current power supplies. Systems integrators who require AC input should consider the PS-260 while the PS-310/DC48 uses DC input.

The PS-260 has an input rating of 85-130 and 180-260 V a.c. and DC outputs of +5 V at 25 A, +12 V at 9 A, -5 V at 0,5 A and -12 V at 2 A. The PS-310/DC48 has an input rating of 40-60 V d.c. and DC outputs of +5 V at 25 A, +12 V at 10 A, -5 V at 1 A and -12 V at 5 A. Both types have an MTBF of 100 000 h.

A maximum of eight fax/modem cards may be installed in a system with -12 V d.c. output, assuming each has a maximum power consumption of 250 mA.
