April 2001 Sensors & Transducers

The Telco family of sensors, amplifiers, controllers and associated products are amongst the most reliable on the market, which is why they are chosen for some of the most demanding applications, where penetrating water, steam, dust, dirt and sunlight have to be contended with.

Telco strives to have a sensor for every conceivable application, with or without preamplifier and catering for hazardous areas. They are very compact and can operate up to a distance of 35 m. The sensors can be used in through-beam, proximity or retro-reflective modes. The design of transmitter and receiver allows flexibility in mounting because of the insensitivity to disalignment and the penetrative ability of the infrared beam. There is a comprehensive range of amplifiers, multiplex systems, power packs and fibre-optic systems.

The SpaceMaster 8000 series is made to withstand the rigours of an industrial environment, comprising self-contained AC and DC photo sensors which incorporate integrated amplifiers, which are designed for applications where high performance and total reliability are crucial. Available in proximity, through-beam, retro-reflective or optic fibre modes, SpaceMaster 8000 sensors are compact and have an operating range of up to 20 m.

The Telco SpaceGuard System is designed to make elevators 'comfort safe', with no danger of the doors closing before passengers are completely clear. They also prevent mechanical damage to automatic doors by detecting objects which many conventional sensors do not recognise, such as material on fork lift trucks.
