The Williamson Silver Series is a family of compact industrial infrared thermometers recommended for applications that involve: target temperatures below 550°C; non-reflective target materials; moving targets; or a need for a small high reliability sensor.
Temperature is commonly measured in manufacturing operations to monitor and control product quality and process productivity. For many applications infrared thermometers are the perfect solution because they measure a target’s temperature without contact. For instance in applications such as ferrous and non-ferrous metals, induction heat treating, boilers, incinerators, kilns, flares and plastic production.
The miniature, low cost Silver Series sensors can be easily integrated into a 4–20 mA loop or used to replace thermocouples for most general-purpose applications in light industrial environments. These sensors are ideal for measurement of most non-reflective materials, where precise alignment is not required.
The series incorporates the latest advances in digital processing to provide accurate, repeatable and reliable measurements. The features include an accuracy of 1%; a choice of D/2, D/15, D/30 and close focus optics; an 8-14 μm wavelength; line of sight alignment with optional external laser aiming; 2-wire or 4-wire configurations; 4–20 mA and voltage outputs that are linear with temperature; type J, K or T thermocouple outputs; USB 2.0 interface; OPC server capabilities and optional accessories such as mounting brackets, water cooling and air purge.

Temperature Measurement
For successful paint cure, irrespective of the paint chemistry being used, there is a critical need to measure and control the temperature of the car body as it travels through the oven. Today, paint ovens are controlled in a sophisticated fashion via thermocouples located in each zone to give constant feedback on the ambient temperature.
