Comtest has introduced JDSU’s new handheld HP3-60 display system, a low-cost solution for inspecting and testing fibre networks. JDSU’s HP3-60 combines both fibre inspection and optical power measurement into a handheld device. Combination of these two optical tools results in a significant increase in workflow efficiency and a decrease in total inspection and test time.
The display system provides high-quality image resolution in a compact, portable design. The integrated power meter offers quick, easy, and accurate field measurements of optical power and attenuation. Easy pushbutton operation makes the device simple and straightforward to use, while the inspect-test process procedure establishes optimal workflow practices.
A probe and patch cord microscope on the HP3-60 allows users to visually see the end-face of a fibre-optic connector on a TFT LCD display, while an optical power meter measures the power in the optical signal. The HP3-60 also works in tandem with the JDSU T-BERD/MTS 4000, 6000, 8000 systems allowing technicians that handle fibre to perform essential functions efficiently.
JDSU leads the industry in promoting ‘inspect before you connect’ best practices when handling optical connectors, and by combining two of the most basic fibre-optic tools into one low-cost unit, technicians can avoid the number one cause of network downtime – contaminated fibre.
