Low cost switching supply

March 2009 Electrical Power & Protection

MEAN WELL has launched the SE-1500 series 1500 W general purpose AC/DC enclosed type switching power supply for low cost high-wattage applications. Featuring high power density and up to 89% efficiency with the built-in long life DC ball bearing fan, SE-1500 series can provide full output wattage at up to 50°C of ambient temperature. Because of the non-PFC design, cost of SE-1500 can be maintained at a lower level and hence fulfil cost requirements in areas that the PFC function is not required, such as USA, South America, China, Taiwan, Korea and Africa.

Standard features like AC input active inrush current limiting, remote ON/OFF control, remote sense functionality and DC OK signal output enables SE-1500 to provide users with an economic and application flexible alternative.

Protection functions include short-circuit, overload, over-voltage and over-temperature, with safety approval per UL and CUL also available.

Suitable application includes general electronic supply, factory automation and moving signs
