In order to make hydrocarbon and geothermal energy available, special deep drilling technology is used. These complex machines can gain access to depths of up to 5000 m. BD Sensors supplied these machines with the ultra rugged pressure sensors required to monitor all the hydraulic systems onboard.
This application provided environments of flammable gas, harsh conditions, and very high vibration. Competitor products could not withstand these conditions, with expensive machine and component failures. BD Sensors stepped up to the plate with their innovative solutions, and came up with a revolutionary product.
Drive unit – vertical drilling machine
The new DX13-DMP331 and DX13-DMP333 units were especially designed for use in hydraulic systems. They have had all connectors illuminated, and have integrated a protective cap as standard, to provide IP68 protection. The internal cavity was also filled with foam material and epoxy resin, and complies with TUV 03-TUV 03-2006 specifications. This new sensor is available in ranges up to 600 Bar. Up to 40 sensors are successfully operating on the vertical drilling machine.
