Voith Nigeria was officially launched on 3 July 2008 and Inem Essien, managing director of Voith Nigeria believes that the decision to open the company came at the right time. “The young company is already a well managed and efficient entity,” remarks Inem.

“Voith Nigeria is expanding quite rapidly and is fast tracking recruitment and training of staff locally. Although our South African counterparts are always generous with training, support, advice and sharing of resources, it is difficult for SA engineers to attend to maintenance in Nigeria’s oil rich areas”, continues Inem. “Our local engineers are on 24/7 standby to do on-site repairs, supply spares and service Voith VSDs (variable speed drives), torque converters for gas turbines, as well as pumps operating in various applications to keep machinery in tip top condition.”
Inem believes that West Africa is undoubtedly a growth region and with Voith Nigeria in place, West Africa can now be best served from West Africa. “As we secure new projects, so the need for additional trained personnel to install and commission and support will arise. The Nigerian team is determined to show growth over the short term and is committed to supporting Nigerian industry with technical efficiency,” concludes Inem.
