Global process instrumentation group Endress+Hauser has announced the launch of associated production centre (APC) Endress+Hauser – Pyrotemp, South Africa. The Endress+Hauser Group acquired a 70% share of Pyrotemp Services, a temperature sensor manufacturer and supplier in September 2007. The remaining 30% of shares were transferred to Endress+Hauser on 1 September 2008.
The investment in the South African market does not end with the purchase of Pyrotemp. It is only the first step! There is a detailed investment plan in place that has started with the purchase of a new building. It is further planned to grow the sensor business and to develop the production facility to be the best-in-class in terms of quality and reliability and to mirror similar Endress+Hauser facilities world-wide. Pyrotemp will move to the new location by the end of 2009; in the meantime major renovation of the current production equipment has already started and will be completed in the next few months.
The company’s previous owners, Dennis Graham and Melvyn Bellis, will remain at the helm in the positions of managing director and technical director respectively. The current employees have all been retained and a reorganisation process is being implemented. This will see the addition of skilled resources on an existing structure of flexible, capable and knowledgeable employees to build an organisation able to quickly respond to the market’s requirements and needs.

“I am extremely excited about the developments at our APC, Endress+Hauser – Pyrotemp, as not only will it lead to improved service delivery to our combined customer base, but it also gives our local production facility access to existing international temperature network,” says Rudy Rudolph, sales director for Endress+Hauser. “Through this network we are able to share our know-how and development customer specific solution, be it on simple repeat order sensors or advanced engineered solutions developed in conjunction with an EPC, plant builder or end-user. This together with our full product basket and solutions will ensure that we can live up to our motto to be: ‘People for Process Automation’. ”
