The German owned multinational, a leader in drive engineering and electronics, will use Electra Mining 2008 as the official launch platform for its new range of industrial gears in South Africa, the X Series.
The products are appropriate to the industry and cover torque ranges from 58 to 175 kNm. Main features include:
* Robust gear housing.
* Reduced cost and weight due to high power density and finely stepped sizes.
* Effective cooling systems.
* Reversible gear unit housing allowing installation flexibility.
* Short delivery times for standard versions and spares.
The company expects particular interest in the Movigear mechatronic drive solution, developed to satisfy the complex requirements of motion control in a wide range of industries.
Further exhibits which are bound to be of interest are the energy saving solutions developed by SEW. “Europe has been conscious of energy saving for many years now, so the technology has actually been around for some time. It is only now that companies in South Africa are seeing the value of these products. In the face of the recent power crises, it has become a necessity to review energy consumption,” comments Urs Roos, MD of SEW Eurodrive South Africa.

Visitors will also be able to view the new aseptic technology designed for use in hygienic environments and the winning display of the PneuDrive Challenge – the mechatronic student competition which was sponsored by SEW Eurodrive and Festo.
SEW Eurodrive extends an invitation to all to visit them at Electra Mining (8–12 September 2008 at the Nasrec Exhibition Centre in Johannesburg) and not to miss the daily entertainment programmes.
