July 2008 News

Adroit Technologies has announced the release of its next-generation product across all three of its globally supplied software lines.

Dave Wibberley, managing director of Adroit Technologies says, "Adroit Technologies is taking the lead in offering a solutions focused suite of products to meet the most demanding requirements of industry. The release of the VIZNET Industrial Portal means Adroit Technologies now offers its partners and customers the capability of delivering solutions covering human machine interface (HMI), reporting and business intelligence, plus full MES capability – through our partnership with ShopwareIT – South Africa’s leading suppliers of Lean Manufacturing consulting and MES software.”

At the forefront of scada development, Adroit 7.0 continues to boast features, benefits and other market-driven enhancements relevant to the local and international markets it serves.

Foremost amongst the enhancements is the new advanced alarm management capability. Adroit 7.0 includes the latest thinking around alarm management and process improvements to its customers. The advanced alarm management component is based on the EEMUA-191 standards, and provides for the compilation of all incidents, including time of incident, time the incident was acknowledged and time it was cleared in a database from which can be drawn various reports and key performance indicators (KPIs) including: average alarm rate, burst rate (the number of incidents in a 10 minute period), percent upset (the number of hours where there are more than 30 alarms per hour), priority distribution, standing alarms, most frequent alarms, intermittent incidents, intermittent counts, count by agent, count by operator, and more.

The Maximum Demand Agent released with ver 7.0 allows customers to manage their energy usage by automatically predicting the usage for any block period. This in turn gives customers the flexibility to reduce consumption in order that they avoid being pushed into a higher billing tariff.

New features also include a DB generator as a separate application that allows easy generation of Adroit WGP files from other formats such as OPC Servers and GX Developer from Mitsubishi, and SQL Express, an optional backend database with a 2 GB storage capacity.

Adroit’s enhancements to the Viznet Information Portal, in version 3.0, continue to build on the legacy of providing a solution for people who need to securely share and manipulate information from a multitude of dissimilar sources both across an intranet or the Internet.

VIZNET now boasts a direct MySQL datasource connector, new designer tools and toolbox enhancements. Usability improvements such as separate login profiles and subscription update grouping per data source and client have lowered CPU usage and improved response times.

Mike Lamusse, technology director for Adroit says, “The enhancements in VIZNET continue to position Adroit Technologies as a leading HMI [human machine interface] vendor in this field. Enabling users to develop a complete .Net application in record time, and freeing them to concentrate on the value-add portion of their application, while VIZNET takes care of all the connectivity, security and distribution.”

Opus also announced several key enhancements to version 4.0. of the Web-based reporting software.

Malcolm Heathfield, sales manager for Opus says, “Opus fills a great hole in the process market, that of unskilled people being able to generate reports without being constrained by their IT departments or having to rely on programmers. Its familiar and user-friendly design environment makes even complex query building and report generation simple.”

In addition to the product launch Adroit Technologies announced the amalgamation of the Opus Technologies business into Adroit Technologies. Dave Wibberley told the audience, “Due to skills challenges our customers are facing and in line with global trends we are now offering a full range of solutions and support under a single umbrella. We have great skills and are focusing on complementing our channel partners but also looking at taking on more challenging turnkey projects such as the SASOL GAS Automated Metering Reading solution we are currently in the process of completing.”
