Booyco collaborates with Des-Pro

Safety remains the primary concern for all within the mining sector. The first collision warning system was designed to warn pedestrians of the presence of moving equipment. As a natural evolution the system, now marketed and supported by Booyco Electronics, was enhanced to include warning vehicle operators of pedestrians in the vicinity. This, in turn led to the functionality of shaft clearance in a single multifunctional device.
In line with Booyco Electronics’ strategic thrust of supplying the units, it has concluded an exclusive distributorship with Des-Pro Technology and will now be responsible for the marketing of its underground asset (vehicle) tracking system, centralised blasting system and environmental fire control monitoring system. “Essentially, we will market all Des-Pro’s underground products while Des-Pro will turn its focus to the surface products and communications backbones,” says Booyco Electronics' managing director, Anton Lourens.

Hans Kotze, managing director of Des-Pro Technology, adds: “We have a long-standing relationship with Booyco Electronics and because of the synergy of our data communications products this joint venture makes perfect sense for both companies.”
“This agreement will give Booyco access to technology as well as the applications knowledge, experience and skills needed to provide systems that adhere to all of the rigid underground mining safety requirements,” concludes Lourens.
