Schneider Electric SA adds new clout to automation solutions.

The local arm of global electricity and automation giant, Schneider Electric has announced the immediate local availability of the new Vijeo Citect and Vijeo Historian software solutions.

Both designed to improve the automation, integration and manageability between scada and business systems, the two new products are able to assist customers to derive a single view of all devices on the plant floor, while at the same time derive reports on data.

“The new Vijeo solutions assist us in taking our clients one step closer to having a truly integrated, single view of their business,” says Sheldon Kaye, high end control product manager at Schneider Electric South Africa. “Companies are constantly looking for that critical link which will provide them with a 360° view of all business processes. At the same time being able to automate from a single point to ensure they have tighter control on the financial bottom line, by making better business decisions.”

Vijeo Citect

Able to integrate with a myriad of systems Vijeo Citect is a highly scalable (supervisory control and data acquisition) scada system best applied in an industrial plant or building environment. The product forms the central hub of the data acquisition systems on the plant floor, feeding data back up to the company’s business systems. The software is based on an open architecture and currently supports more than 100 different manufacturers.

The key driver of Vijeo Citect is that it works in a realtime environment ensuring improved and up-to-date data accuracy, allowing for better decision making on the fly. It is most commonly used to assist in getting a clearer view on scheduling, manufacturing, maintenance requests, as well as quality assurance.

Some key technology enhancements are included in the visualisation of the product with its XP-Style looking interface.

Vijeo Historian

The all-new reporting tool from Schneider Electric, Vijeo Historian, provides customers with the ability to view reports and recordings within their existing data. With its integration to Microsoft, the product is able to interact seamlessly with user data providing management with a true view of events on the plant floor.

Vijeo Historian provides customers the ability to view reports, which can be analysed and responded to proactively ensuring that companies can respond quickly to potential opportunities and threats.

“The new Vijeo solutions form a critical part of an intelligent plant solution. Companies around the globe need to tighten their belts on the costs, and management of their business. We believe the new Vijeo Citect and Vijeo Historian are able to give users accurate and intelligent information to back the decisions they need to make,” ends Kaye.
