Power solution for low level lighting

Mean Well has announced a new switch mode power supply for light emitting diode (LED) lighting applications. The ELN-30 series is a cost effective converter with a maximum output power of 30 W. Cost reduction is achieved by eliminating power factor control, while still complying with UL 1310 class 2 requirements. The unit is enclosed in an IP64 compliant plastic casing, which protects the electronics from dust and moisture.
According to Mean Well, efficiency is above 85% and only free air convection cooling is required. Standard features include short-circuit, overload and over-voltage protection. Optional dimming control by pulse width modulation (PWM) can also be provided. Typical applications include backlighting, electronic displays, moving signs and decorative lighting.
