The TeSys model T intelligent motor protection relay was recently launched by Schneider Electric South Africa (SESA). The device offers a combination of protection functions, open communications options with simplicity and ease of use. It can be incorporated in most major communication protocols available on the market, such as ModBus, DeviceNet, Profibus DP, CANopen and Ethernet TCPIP. It also integrates with other Schneider Electric low voltage equipment like Okken, Blokset and Prisma.
Intended for the protection, metering and monitoring of single and three phase, constant speed, AC motors rated from 400 mA to 810 A, it has protective functions such as motor temperature monitoring, thermal overload, long start and stall detection, earth fault and phase imbalance detection and load variation monitoring. It monitors and stores the details of motor operational history for purposes of daily motor management systems analysis and future performances.
TeSys T enhances the operation and safety of processes and is able to monitor loads of up to 100 A, preventing costly and disruptive damage to equipment and unnecessary trips, reducing plant downtime. Applications would include petroleum, water and wastewater treatment, chemical industry, minerals and mining, microelectronics, pharmaceuticals, tunnels and airports. The compact design ensures that it may be used for fixed, disconnectable and draw-out assemblies as per IEC or NEMA standards for international and local applications.
