Rustenburg in 2001 AD

If you missed the Control Roadshow in Rustenburg on 25 January, you would have unfortunately missed one of the best supplier representations of instrumentation and control equipment seen in this country for a long time. Equipment ranged from valves to variable speed drives, encoders to enclosures, radar to lasers, pressure to power, relays to programmable logic controllers and, of course, DCS to scada.
New technologies, new techniques and new products are critical factors in maintaining the competitive edge in the manufacturing industry, and all were admirably represented in Rustenburg this year. Visitors to the show were faced with having to see forty-three hi-tech exhibition booths, all displaying their latest international solutions to production challenges.
A very successful day started at midday at the Civic Centre in Rustenburg with exhibits from the following leaders in the industry: ABB Automation, AC/DC Dynamics, Adroit Technologies, Airtech, Alpret Control Specialists, Anglo Allied Engineering, Ascoreg, ATI Systems, Atlas Industrial, Autotech Weighing Systems, Bentley & Nevada, Biman Fluid, Bürkert Contromatic, Danfoss, Elen Enclosures, Endress+Hauser, Electro Excellence, Futuristix, Honeywell SA, Ind Auto & Control, Instrotech, KAB Instruments, Laser M, Loadtech, MacSound, Measurtronic, Meissner Power, N & Z Instrumentation, Newco Instrumentation, OMSA Valves & Inst, Phoenix Contact, PLC Direct, Prei Instrumentation, Ramsey Technology, Shorrock Automation, Spectrum Communications, Temperature Controls, TIM Controls, TM Automation, Vega Instruments SA, WIKA , Xycom/IPC, Yelland Control, Yokogawa SA.
By 18h00, and much discussion later, it was time to pack up and head for home, however the sense of anticipation was very evident with regard to the next show on 29 March.
