Compact modular PLC
September 2007
PLCs, DCSs & Controllers
LS Industrial Systems recently launched the XGB compact PLC system. The CPU module, which features 60 ns per step processing speed, up to 32 digital I/O, RS485 and RS232 ports, auto-tune PID control and a 2-channel 100 kHz positioning function, measures just 60 x 90 x 30 mm.
The plug-in expansion I/O modules are DIN-rail clip mounted - no rack is required. Any combination and order of digital, analog, communication or special function modules can be accommodated, up to a maximum of 480 I/O and seven expansion units. All digital and analog modules feature full opto-isolation on all channels.
The same expansion modules can be utilised as remote I/O by using either a Profibus or Devicenet bus-coupling module in place of the CPU.
As with all LS/LG PLCs, the programming software is issued free of charge.
