Elec 2000 beats all records

Elec 2000 closed its doors to record visitor figures: 140 392 qualified trade visitors flocked to the Paris Nord Exhibition Centre in December 2000 where 2172 exhibitors from 36 countries awaited them over an exhibition area of 120 000 m2. Up 13,2% compared with ELEC 1998, this turnout confirmed the show as the leading meeting place for all the electricity professions, from automation to lighting and climatic engineering.

Elec 2000 welcomed 14 227 international visitors from 140 countries, ie 10% of the total and an unprecedented rise of 39,3% compared with the 1998 session. Visitors tended to stay longer, as is indicated by the total of 170 426 entrances (+16,7 % compared with 1998). Visitor traffic at Elec 2000 was steady, from the minute the doors opened on the Monday morning until they closed on the Friday, with 75% of entrances registered on the Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

The traditional operation aimed at promoting contacts between manufacturers and training colleges attracted 8000 students (not included in the trade visitor figures) accompanied by 2857 teachers.

Elec 2000 confirmed that exhibitors have moved on to a new level of sophistication, integrating the new information and communications technologies (NICT). Combining new electricity and communications technologies (NECT) and new automation and communications technologies (NACT), they presented a complete spectrum of innovative solutions based on integrated products, equipment, systems and services and aimed at all activity sectors - industrial, services and residential construction.

The first Elec of the new millennium will take place from 9-13 December 2002.
