Level instrumentation company, Vega, has developed a tank measuring system for logging tank contents on ships. The system, which comprises a switching cabinet with sensor supply and signal processing as well as all necessary tank sensors, combines plics sensor technology with intelligent measurement data processing.
Ship tank measurement systems offer single source reliability for owners
The modular structure of the sensors facilitates the connection of different measurement loops to the tank measuring system. Sensors placed in Ex and non-Ex areas provide level, pressure, switching, temperature and draught values. Levels in cargo and service tanks are measured and transferred to the on-board computer, independent of the type of type. The tank measuring system can be customised for any number of different measurement loops with cascadable switching cabinet components.
A digital bus connection ensures correct measured value transmission from the sensors to the host system in the control room. Measured values and alarm messages are shown on the flat panel display with integrated keyboard. Thanks to the digital output interfaces, the tank measuring system can be connected to existing data infrastructure on ships.
Optional GPS modem connections on the tank measuring system simplify maintenance and service of the instruments ashore and at sea.
Numerous ship approvals and the clearly defined interfaces for the centrally compiled measurement data ensure easy planning and operational safety for ship owners and shipyards.
