HASSle-free transducers suit panel-mounting

June 2007 Sensors & Transducers

LEM has added the HASS series to its range of current transducer families designed to operate from a single +5 V power supply. Key points of these transducers are their open-loop Hall-effect ASIC, access to internal voltage reference and compact size. The seven transducers in the range offer maximum current measurements from 50 to 600 A.r.m.s, and share the same mechanical design, measuring only 40 x 30 x 32,5 mm with a 20,4 x 10,4 mm aperture for the primary conductor. Weighing in at only 55 g the transducers are ideal for panel-mounting applications.

LEM's unique open-loop Hall-effect technology ASIC has been used to provide performance improvements such as better offset and gain drifts, improved linearity and an extended operating temperature range (-40 to +85°C) compared to traditional discrete technology. The transducers can measure DC, AC and pulse currents, with low power consumption, while providing galvanic isolation between the primary and output circuits.

The internal 2,5 V reference voltage is provided on a separate contact of the Molex connector or can be forced by an external reference of between 2 and 2,8 V for cancellation of reference thermal drift. Gain and offset are fixed and set so that, at Ipn, the output voltage is equal to Ref in or Ref out ±0,625 V.

The HASS series transducers are CE marked, conform to the EN 50178 standard, which is recognised for industrial applications, and are provided with LEM's five-year industrial product warranty.
