Endress+Hauser has announced the addition of the RB223 passive barrier to its extensive instrumentation product range. The RB223 passive barrier is utilised for DIN rail installation and separates active 4-20 mA measurement signals between sensor and analysis devices.
The RB223 passive barrier is ideal for application in the chemical, pharmaceutical, oil and gas, and food and beverage industries
This passive barrier is ideal for applications in many areas of process instrumentation, including the chemical, pharmaceutical, oil and gas, and food and beverage industries.
"The RB223 is cost-effective, safe, accurate and offers excellent signal transmission," says product manager, Trevor Fletcher. "Costs are minimised with two channels being used in a single housing and the RB223 requiring no external power supply. Connection of all signal cables is done using plug-in screw terminals."
Using the RB223 galvanic isolation, and for units in Ex-areas, intrinsically safe separation is guaranteed. Signal transmission direction can be selected and in addition to the current values, HART signals can also be transmitted. For the connection of a HART-handheld terminal, communication resistors are integrated into the device. This ensures that there is no need to use an intrinsically safe handheld unit.
The RB223 is intrinsically safe certified to ATEX, FM, CSA, TIIS and IECEX and can also be installed in a Zone 2 area. RB223 is also SIL3 approved.
