The new IP65/67 Fieldline Modular bus coupler from Phoenix Contact is equipped with eight digital inputs and connects a Fieldline modular local bus station to an Ethernet network. It is also used for acquiring digital signals. The FLM BK ETH M12 DI8 M12 bus coupler supports Modbus/TCP, Modbus/UDP and DDI (device driver interface) communication protocols.
The Ethernet interfaces provide auto-negotiation for transmission rates of 10 Mbit/s or 100 Mbit/s in half duplex or full duplex mode. The interfaces can also automatically interchange the receive- and transmit connections using autocrossover technology.
As well as the Ethernet interface, the bus coupler is equipped with a powerful local bus interface with selectable transmission rates of 500 kbaud or 2 Mbaud. The total length of the local bus may be up to 20 m and it can connect a maximum of 16 I/O units.
The sensor supply is short-circuit and overload-protected to ensure high system availability. Diagnostic and status displays for power supply, network, and local bus operation with corresponding monitoring functions help to reduce bus downtime and provide support if service becomes necessary.
