New meter measures 4-20 mA signals without breaking the loop

April 2007 Maintenance, Test & Measurement, Calibration

Comtest, sole authorised distributor of Fluke Industrial and Electrical test tools and Fluke Precision Measurement in southern Africa, has announced the launch of the revolutionary Fluke 771 milliamp Process Clamp Meter.

The 771 is Fluke's latest innovation in measuring mA loop signals and makes it no longer necessary to remove a wire from its terminal (breaking the loop). This directly impacts maintenance time. There is no need to call a control room to override the control of a process loop when breaking the loop. It can save time when testing analog I/O on a PLC because it eliminates the need to check measurements on a console. In addition, the Fluke 771 eliminates the possibility of catastrophic plant outage caused by accidental opening of a critical loop, and the resultant impact on costs.

Key features of the 771 are:

* Measure 4-20 mA signals without breaking the loop.

* 0,2% accuracy.

* Resolution and sensitivity to 0,01 mA.

* Hold function captures and displays changing measurements.

* Dual backlit display with both mA measurement and percent of 4-20 mA span.

* Measurement spotlight illuminates hard-to-see wires in dark enclosures.

* Detachable clamp with extension cable for measurements in tight locations.

* Measure 10-50 mA signals in older control systems using the 99,9 mA range.
