GLI Model 5600 series dissolved oxygen sensor carries a one-year guarantee on its replaceable membrane cartridge. If the cartridge fails for any reason, except for physical damage, it will be replaced at no charge. The entire sensor (excluding the cartridge) carries a 30-month pro-rated warranty.
These D.O. sensors use three-electrode polarographic Ross cell technology. The cell consists of a platinum working electrode (cathode), a platinum counter electrode (anode) and a silver reference electrode. The oxygen that is dissolved in the process diffuses through an oxygen permeable Teflon membrane and is reduced at the working electrode. Since the cell generates as much oxygen as it consumes, it is operating at equilibrium. Measurement at equilibrium minimises sensor maintenance and extends membrane cartridge life, resulting in the above guarantee.
