The successful range of pyrometers, type IS 140 and IGA 140 from Impac Infrared GmbH are now also available with a built-in PID controller. They can be ordered under the names IS 140-C and IGA 140-C.
The PID controller enables automatic control and monitoring of the process to be carried out. It compares the actual (measured) temperature with the target value temperature and sends out the (control) difference as a control signal, emitted by the analog output with 0-20 mA or 4-20 mA (corresponding to 0 to 100%). The control signal is updated quickly with the pyrometer's basic response time. The controller and all its parameters can only be activated/deactivated or changed via the interface or the software. An integrated self-tuning algorithm helps to find the desired parameters. On the bottom of the display the particular setting is shown as a bargraph. Typical applications for pyrometers with such a controller lie for example in the field of induction heating.
The series 140 is digital, highly precise pyrometers for non-contact temperature measurements on metals, ceramics and graphite between 250 and 3300°C. For an optimised adaptation of the instruments to the particular application, three different focusable optics with very small spot sizes (from 0,35 mm) are available. The perfect alignment of the measuring object is guaranteed either by an optimised through-the-lens viewfinder or a laser targeting light.
The response times (<1 ms (500 μs optional)) are very small, so that the pyrometer is well suited for very fast applications. The instruments combine the advantages of analog and digital technology.
All parameters can be set either directly in the instrument with the built-in keyboard, or via the PC using the InfraWin software, which is included in the delivery. All settings are indicated on the built-in LC-display and/or on the PC. In the normal operation mode the display shows the current measuring temperature.
