Isolating spark gaps for explosive areas
November 2006
Electrical Power & Protection
DEHN's EXFS range of isolating spark gaps is designed for installation in conductive system parts which cannot be connected directly to earth in hazardous areas, typically in cathodic corrosion protection. The devices are manufactured in accordance with IEC 61024-1 and IEC 62305 lightning and equipotential bonding in hazardous areas.
The explosion-proof ExFS L 100 kA (8/20) models are designed specifically for bonding in hazardous environments and are used in cathodic protection. Available with a flexible cable to suit 20 to 320 mm flanges, the type ExFS L are installed at insulating flanges or at insulating joints.
The type EXFS KU are designed for connecting various earthing systems in case of direct or indirect lightning effects in indoor or outdoor buildings, damp outdoor places, and underground areas. These units are enclosed in a damp-proof PVC housing and are ideal for underground installation at insulating couplings.
DEHN is represented locally by Surgetek.
