Annoucements

1) ISO REMCO

You are cordially invited to the inaugural meeting of REMCO SA the mirror committee of ISO REMCO (the Committee on Reference Materials of ISO that was established in 1975).

Date: 24 October 2006

Time: 15:30

Place: Emperors Palace Convention Centre, Johannesburg International Airport

ISO REMCO (ISO Technical Committee for reference materials) is responsible for the establishment and upkeep of ISO Guides 30-35 giving guidance on the production of reference materials. The CSIR NML is the second institute in South Africa after MINTEK to become involved with the production of reference materials. From the SADCMET perspective it will become more important for the region to have a say in the development of standards and guides concerning the production of reference materials. SANAS also accredits laboratories involved in reference material production to ISO Guide 34 and several commercial laboratories in South Africa are preparing for accreditation to ISO Guide 34.

In view of all the developments at ISO REMCO and the movement towards accreditation of several commercial laboratories in South Africa it has become evident that wider spread involvement in the work of ISO REMCO is required. A national committee can provide input into the work programme of ISO REMCO and can also facilitate the disseminate of the information to our measurement community.

The conference is pleased to advise that the following presentations will take place

Topic: The importance of accuracy, motivation, dedication, and enthusiasm in the food industry
