The Control Roadshow - Nelson Mandela Bay

October 2006 News

So many industrial areas around the country are experiencing expansions and renewed economic activity. Port Elizabeth is no exception, and where else would it be possible to get a technical update of world automation trends so close to home, other than at The Control Roadshow.

The 30 August was the day when two hundred technical specialists took time out to network with 25 manufacturers and suppliers of automation equipment. As the doors opened at 11h00, a steady stream of enthusiastic visitors continued until closing at 17h00. Port Elizabeth is an area that particularly values the opportunity to gain information, and again this year visitors commented on the usefulness of the occasion - even after visiting eight years in succession!

Exhibitors in Port Elizabeth this year included displays from: Adroit, Airtech, Anglo Allied Engineering, Atlas Industrial Systems, Autotech Weighing, Bartec SA, Burkert Contromatic, Inala Technologies, Citect/SSE Data, Cosmotronics, Inala Tech, Instrotech, Laser M, Loadtech Load Cells, Monta Controls, PALTechnologies, Phendula Technologies, Rockwell Port Elizabeth, RJ Programmable Techniques, RS Components, Schneider PE, Tec-Elec, Temperature Controls, Westplex, WNIP, Yokogawa.

With 2007 now on the horizon we need to reflect on past years and plan for the next. The decision to reduce the number of shows in 2006 from 2005 has been a good one and has reduced the pressure on all participants. In 2007 we will move the schedule to reach some of the areas not visited in 2006, and of course keep some of the regular annual stops. Venue selection this year will also be significantly guided by areas which indicate strong visitor support as opposed to areas which do not.

Currently a plan exists to take The Control Roadshow to Bellville, Phalaborwa, Richards Bay, Secunda, Port Elizabeth and Vaal Triangle in 2007. While this is the plan, it is still possible to make some adjustments if sufficient interest exists.
