In the last few years, the electromagnetic measuring principle has established itself in industry whenever the flow of aqueous media had to be determined in a highly precise manner. Endress+Hauser's PROline Promag series of electromagnetic flow-measuring systems is known globally for quality and reliability. With the addition of Promag 10 to the series, the company has made electromagnetic measurement a feasible option for less complex applications.
Promag 10 is suited to measuring-points that do not have to meet higher than average measuring demands and where measured variables are shown in analog form on the process-control level. Typical examples of such applications are found in the potable-water and waste-water treatment industries.
The PROline concept is based on sensors for specific applications in the water and waste-water industries, the process industry, or for hygienic applications. Independent of the sensor type, users can choose a transmitter that can be individually tailored to their requirements for signal processing and integration into process-control systems.
The Promag 10 is limited to the basic functions of an electromagnetic measuring device and is the entry level option available from Endress+Hauser. Also in the Promag range is the Promag 50 which is the standard transmitter, and with Promag 53 being used in applications with an extended number of functions.

Editor's Choice Flow Measurement & Control
There are many processes where it is undesirable for the load to suddenly change quickly, for example in the paper industry. Examples of level control have involved reasonably fast tuning. An example of a level loop tuned this way and responding to a step change in setpoint is given.
