Process plants generally have electric motors and other rotating machinery which need to be monitored to avoid unexpected and inconvenient stoppages. Routine checking of the vibration with a small pocket-size vibration meter could prevent major problems. The Metrix Model SH2000 from PREI Instrumentation is suitable for spot measurement of machinery vibration. It is small enough to fit into a shirt pocket but is still able to measure the three basic units of vibration on machinery, namely displacement, velocity and acceleration.
The SH2000 comes complete with a high temperature accelerometer, 1,2 m cable, magnet for accelerometer attachment, carry-pouch and a 'stinger' probe. It is certified for use in intrinsically-safe areas. The product is a price-economic, portable and easy-to-use vibration meter that covers all basic vibration monitoring requirements on industrial plants.
