LEM current transducers for measurements up to 20 000 ARMS with signal conditioning

September 2006 Sensors & Transducers

LEM has introduced the HAZ family of current transducers for measurements from 4000 A up to 20 000 ARMS nominal, with six models housed in the same 250 x 160 x 50 mm package. Each is offered with either an instantaneous ±10 V voltage output (-SB models) or with a DC true RMS 0 to 20 mA current output (-SRI models). These versions incorporate signal conditioning, making them suitable for use with programmable logic controllers (PLCs).

The use of open-loop Hall effect technology allows the transducers to measure DC, AC and pulse currents and provides galvanic isolation between the primary and output circuits. Their clearance and creepage distances provide a test isolation voltage of 12 kVRMS/50 Hz/1 min. This technology also offers low power consumption.

The HAZ series transducers conform to the EN 50178 standard, use UL94-V0 recognised materials and are CE marked according to the European Directive 89/336/EEC. They are particularly suitable for industrial applications, including high current rectifiers, uninterruptible power supplies, power supplies for welding, battery-powered applications, telecom applications and also DC switchgear in traction applications.

Additional models in the family offer a complete range of output signal conditioning, including 4-20 mA, 0-20 mA or 10 V signals, all available in DC true RMS or instantaneous value.

The HAZ transducers are covered by a five-year warranty.
