New drive five times faster

May 2006 Motion Control & Drives

Tectra Automation has introduced a newly released offering from motion specialists Bosch Rexroth to the local market. The AGK - a new, enclosed ball screw drive unit - offers up to five times higher speeds over long strokes. With a screw length of 3 m, the drive achieves positioning speeds of up to 2,53 m/s when installed horizontally. Rexroth supplies this drive unit complete with screw, ball nut enclosure, pillow blocks, extrusion profile, and sealing strip. The closed structure allows greater freedom of design and reduces the risk of dirt working its way in. The extrusion profile provides built-in encapsulation, preventing accidental contact with the moving internals.

The ball screws of this new series can be supplied in any desired length up to 6 m. For horizontal installation, the unit can be delivered with several screw supports, as desired by the customer. A 20, 32 or 40 mm diameter screw is enclosed in a transparently anodised aluminium profile extruded in one piece. Attachments can be fastened to the extrusion profile. A steel or plastic sealing strip provides optimal protection against dirt.
