Magnetic sensors with GMR technology

IFM Electronic is offering a range of magnetic sensors with GMR technology for position sensing in harsh industrial environments. A real alternative to the Reed switch, the MK Series provides low-cost, reliability and long life. A self-clamping fixture provides easy adjustment and quick mounting. All sensors in the series carry ingress protection ratings of up to IP 69 K, making them suitable for most applications.
These cylinder switches can be easily inserted into the T-slot from the top or side and immediately snaps-in due to the innovative clamping mechanism. The switch can easily be moved in the slot to the required switching position and the clamping mechanism will prevent the switch from moving until fixed permanently by its slotted/hexagonal socket screw.
Since the switch is completely surrounded by the slot there is no room for mechanical damage. The fixing at the end of the switch, rather than at its head, reduces leverage and provides better protection against inadvertent tear-out or switch point change. Non-contact sensors virtually work without wear and often achieve longer life saving expensive repair and downtimes.
The sensor is suited for the common T-slot cylinders no matter whether it is used in industrial applications, machine tools, and hygienic or wet areas. Tailor-made accessories enable the same sensor to be mounted on different cylinder types such as trapezoidal slot, tie-rod, clean-line and integrated profile cylinders.
IFM's magnetic proximity switches can detect magnets through materials such as stainless steel, non-ferrous metal, aluminium, plastic and glass. Due to the GMR technology, the magnetic sensors feature long sensing and high switching frequencies.
